Work has begun on dozens of new village homes after a successful appeal by the developer.

More than 50 houses are being built on land at Kingswood near Wotton-under-edge, Gloucestershire.

The developer, Persimmon Homes, said the houses will be suitable a range of potential buyers and feature "solar panels and electric vehicle charging points."

Plans for the 'Cloverlea Gardens' development were approved on appeal last year after Stroud District Council raised concerns over the "biodiversity value of the site and wider area."

The developer said it will make more than £220,000 in "community financial contributions", helping libraries and secondary education in the area.

Kingswood Parish Councillor, Jean Simmons said Persimmon had been working "very well" with the local community.

She added that they hoped the developer would continue to work alongside villagers "over the months ahead."
