An 11-year-old child was airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car on Saturday, Surrey Police has said.

The child sustained serious injuries in the collision on the A24 in Dorking, between the Cockerel and North Holmwood roundabouts, at around 13:00 BST.

A spokesperson for the force said it was investigating and wished to speak to anyone who had seen the collision or captured it on camera.

The driver of the car involved in the crash remained on scene and has "fully cooperated with our investigation", it added.

Anyone with information relating to the crash is urged to contact Surrey Police.
