Police investigating reported rape of girl, 13

Police are investigating a report that a 13-year-old girl was raped on Friday evening.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said it received a report a girl was raped between 18:20 and 20:30 GMT in Totton, Hampshire.

The force said officers were conducting inquiries at a park in Testwood Lane, where the girl was left, and were working to obtain CCTV footage.

Officers are supporting the victim and asked anyone with information to come forward.

Lead investigator Det Insp Claire Shawley said: "I know this incident is extremely concerning for the local community and we are working hard to investigate what has happened as a priority.

"I know, at times like this, it is natural for people to want as much information as possible and we will share more when we can."

She urged people not to speculate about who may be involved.
