Polling stations have opened across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough for people to cast their vote in the local elections.

Voting venues open at 07:00 BST and will remain open until 22:00.

Five candidates are standing to be mayor of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough combined authority, while 61 Cambridgeshire County Council seats are up for re-election.

There are also by-elections for two wards in Cambridge City Council, East Chesterton and West Chesterton, and one in Peterborough City Council, for Barnack.

The local authorities have been reminding people to bring photo ID with them to the polling station in order to cast their vote.

More than 20 forms of ID will be accepted, including passports, driving licences and older or Disabled Person's bus passes.

Voters in England who have lost ID or it has been stolen, damaged or destroyed can apply for an emergency proxy vote, until 17:00 on polling day.

The final results for the mayoral and county council elections will be declared on Friday 2 May, in the afternoon.
