Two teenage boys have been arrested after a stolen car was left damaged and abandoned on the side of a road.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers recovered the vehicle from the westbound carriageway of the A38 near Liskeard, after being called at about 03:25 BST on Saturday.

Its owner had reported it stolen from a property on New Road in Saltash.

A 16-year-old from the Liskeard area and a 15-year-old from the Callington area have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and taking a vehicle without consent.

Both have been released on bail, pending further inquiries, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

Police said there had been two separate reports of unsuccessful attempts to steal vehicles from properties on Pollards Way, Saltash, in the early hours of Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police.
