Investigation launched after derelict pub blaze

An investigation is under way after a fire at a derelict public house.

Firefighters tackled the blaze at the Farriers Arms next to Morrisons on Fishponds Road in Bristol on Friday, at around 19:30 BST.

Avon Fire and Rescue said five fire appliances and a turntable ladder were in attendance to deal with the incident and around 30 firefighters.

Local residents were urged to avoid the area due to traffic congestion and to keep all doors and windows closed due to the significant amounts of smoke and fumes generated by this blaze, firefighters said.

The cause of the blaze is currently unknown, and an investigation will take place in an effort to determine the cause, emergency services said.
