Spalding murder accused to stand trial in July

A man accused of killing another man who was found dead on a Lincolnshire street is to stand trial in July.

Viktors Zeglovs, 33, of no fixed abode, denies murdering Vadims Zmicerevskis, 45, who died after an incident at the junction of Green Lane and St Thomas' Road in Spalding on 11 November 2024.

He also denies a second charge of manslaughter relating to the unlawful killing of of Mr Zmicerevskis.

He was due to stand trial at Lincoln Crown Court on 19 May but during a pre-trial hearing on Wednesday, Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight heard his trial would not be ready to go ahead until 14 July.

The trial is expected to last seven days.

Mr Zeglovs, who followed the hearing via a Russian interpreter, has been remanded into custody until 10 July when he is due to appear at the same court for a further pre-trial hearing.
