Suspected WW2 bomb removed from shopping park

A suspected World War Two explosive device found near a shopping park in Rotherham has been removed with a controlled explosion carried out, police confirmed.

Emergency services attended Stonerow Way, near Parkgate Shopping Centre, at 14:00 GMT on Monday.

The Army's explosive ordnance disposal team transported the device to a safe place for the explosion, with the 100m cordon later lifted and travel routes reopened.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "We would like to thank for the public for their cooperation and understanding."
