A child has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a bus.

Norfolk Police said it was called at 08:10 BST to Wroxham Road in Sprowston, near Norwich.

The East of England Ambulance Service said a girl was taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further assessment and care.

The road was closed between Cannerby Lane and Cozens Hardy Road.

Piers Marlow, managing director at First Bus East of England, confirmed that one of its vehicles was involved.

Mr Marlow said: "Emergency services attended the scene and the pedestrian was taken to hospital. Our thoughts and best wishes are with them.

"We are conducting a full investigation into what happened and are assisting the relevant authorities with their inquiries."

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said an ambulance, rapid response vehicle, paramedic car and East Anglian Air Ambulance attended the scene.
