Appeal after burglary at former retirement home

Burglars have broken into a historic building in North Yorkshire and caused damage estimated to run into thousands of pounds, police have said.

The incident took place at Fircroft Lodge on Wighill Lane, Tadcaster, between Friday 9 May and Thursday 15 May.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

A police spokesperson added: "Fircroft Lodge is former retirement home that was built in the 1890s and has a vast sentimental history to the local area."
