Driver caught with £80k drugs haul on motorway

A man found with £80,000 of drugs in his car when he was stopped by police on the motorway has been jailed.
Christopher O'Neill was pulled over by police when he was driving along the M6 at Broughton, Preston, on 19 March and his car was searched.
When he was stopped on Garstang Road, a bag containing four vacuum sealed packages of amphetamine was found in the boot of the BMW 320, with each package weighing about 2kg (4.4lbs).
The 57-year old, from Blackpool, was jailed for three years and nine months at Preston Crown Court after admitting possession of a Class B controlled drug with intent to supply.
Insp Paul Gaynor said: "A significant amount of amphetamine was found in Christopher O'Neill's car and those drugs have been taken off the streets.
"We take very seriously any attempts to use the motorway and roads network in Lancashire to transport drugs and welcome the prison sentence passed by the judge in this case."
