A man has been injured after he was shot with an air weapon.

Suffolk Police was called to Granary Road, Newmarket, by the ambulance service at 06:35 BST following reports the man in his 30s had been shot in the chest.

The victim, who has not been named, was taken to hospital but his injuries are not considered to be life-changing or life-threatening.

A 56-year-old man was arrested in Kentford and later charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and driving while over the legal limit of alcohol. He was remanded into custody and will later appear in Ipswich Magistrates' Court.
