Police were called to a crash on the A465 westbound early on Saturday morning

A man has died after a quadbike was found overturned on a major road.

Police were called to a crash on the A465 westbound, between Rhymney, Caerphilly, and Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil, at around 04:50 BST on Saturday.

A quadbike was found overturned in the road and a man found next to it was pronounced dead at the scene, Gwent Police said.

Work was fully completed on the A465 – also known as the Heads of the Valleys road – on Friday after a £2bn upgrade that started in 2002.

Police said they would like to speak to anyone who was travelling on the A465 westbound between Rhymney and Dowlais between 01:30 and 04:50 on Saturday.
