A man has been charged after three teenagers were injured in a stabbing near Portobello beach in Edinburgh.

Police were called shortly before 23:00 on Saturday after reports of a disturbance near the beachfront on Bath Street and Mentone Avenue.

Three males, one age 17 and two age 18, were taken to hospital for treatment.

The force confirmed a 21-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Police Scotland said inquiries were ongoing and thanked those who had assisted the investigation so far.
