School 'very proud' after being rated excellent

The head teacher of a special education school in Guernsey has said staff are "very proud" after being rated excellent by inspectors.

Le Rondin School was graded the highest score across all categories, according to the Ofsted report.

Inspectors said the school "has a transformational impact on children's lives" by ensuring they had high-quality education, positive relationships and clear routines.

The school said it was striving for continuous improvement and identified their relationships with pupils as a strength.

The categories the school was inspected on included quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and welfare, leadership and management and early years provision.

This year is the school's 20th anniversary.

Paula Sullivan, head teacher at Le Rondin, said: "I am very, very proud of all the children, we have got an amazing group of parents who are so supportive of the school.

"The staff are just phenomenal, so I would like to say a huge thanks to everybody because it is a real team effort."

Year 6 student Leo used to only communicate with sign language but he said he was now a "really fast talker" thanks to the school's encouragement.
