Improvements come ahead of the £3.3m transformation of Wednesfield High Street

Road safety improvements are being made before a major high street investment project begins.

The works at Wood End Road roundabout and Linthouse Lane in Wolverhampton include chicanes, improved road signs, and road marking to assist in controlling traffic speeds, the council said.

The section of road has recorded 13 injury collisions in the last three years.

City of Wolverhampton councillor Qaiser Azeem said: "As well as bringing vibrancy to the centre it is important that we make linked journeys as safe and enjoyable as possible for residents and visitors."

Improvements come ahead of the £3.3m transformation of Wednesfield High Street.

Mr Azeem added: "The current improvement works at Wood End Road roundabout and along Linthouse Lane will make the area safer for pedestrians and road users.

"We would also urge motorists using these roads to be extra vigilant and pay attention to their speed."

The roadworks are expected to be completed by the end of March.
