Name change marks 'new chapter' for university

A proposal to change the name of a university has been approved.
Bishop Grosseteste, in Lincoln, said it would change its name to Lincoln Bishop University.
The plan was approved by the Office for Students after 600 stakeholders including staff, students, alumni and representatives from local schools and colleges were involved in a consultation process.
The institution said the change reflected its location and connection to Lincoln, and also "marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter".
The university was established in 1862 as an Anglican teacher training college for women.
Its name changed 100 years later in honour of Robert Grosseteste, the 13th Century scientist, philosopher, educator and Bishop of Lincoln.
Vice chancellor Prof Andrew Gower said: "We are proud to be embarking on this next chapter in our history.
"We look forward to continuing to work in collaboration with all our valued partners, as we plan the strategy to be launched next academic year."
The name will be formally adopted by the institution from September to coincide with the start of the 2025/26 academic year.
