Residents reported hearing a loud bang near in the St Mark's area

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fire was started in a block of flats in a town.

Enquiries are ongoing after suspected arson at the flats in Cheltenham on 31 March.

Residents in the St Marks area, on Goldsmith Road, were reportedly awoken by a loud bang at around 23:00 BST, and found a lit firework.

Three people were able to leave without being injured, and the fire was extinguished by Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service a short while afterwards.

The building sustained minor damage and no arrests have been made.

Officers carried out forensic enquiries, but would like to hear from anyone in the area who has doorbell cameras, CCTV, or dashcam footage active at the time of the fire.
