Views sought on council care home changes

People in Wolverhampton have been asked for their thoughts on the council's care provisions.
The City of Wolverhampton Council said it was changing the way it commissions placements in residential and nursing homes for older adults and wanted to move away "from a model that simply purchases a service for someone in a home".
Instead it wanted one aimed at the specific needs and desired outcomes "that matter most to those in care".
Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, cabinet member for adults and wellbeing, said it was speaking to care home residents and staff but wanted to hear from other people too.
"This marks a step change in the way that we commission placements – placing the focus firmly on the outcomes that people in care and their families want to achieve," Ms Jaspal said.
The authority is keen to speak to people who may need a care home in the near future and from relatives of care home users.
"The survey is designed to capture a snapshot of what outcomes they would value, and also to identify people who would be willing to do a semi-structured interview which will be able to explore, in greater depth, their needs," Ms Jaspal added.
The survey is available to complete online, called Residential and Nursing Care Survey, and closes on 21 April.
