Murder inquiry after man found dead in street

Police have launched a murder investigation over the death of a man in a street in Lanarkshire.

Joe Buchanan, 35, died at the scene of an incident in Springhill Street, Douglas, at about 20:35 on Sunday.

Police Scotland said it appeared to be "targeted incident" and there was no risk to the wider public.

In a statement Mr Buchanan's family said he had a "heart of gold" and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

They added: "We want to thank everyone who has shown support to the family."

Det Insp Mark McGraw asked for anyone with dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area at the time of the incident to share it with investigators.

He said: "I would ask anyone who was in the Springhill Street area on Sunday night, who witnessed the incident or has any information that may assist officers with the investigation, to get in touch."
