New AI hub opens in city's Liver Building

A global IT company which specialises in Artificial Intelligence (AI), has opened its UK northern base in Liverpool.
Kyndryl, which has its headquarters in New York and an office in London, said its new technology hub in the city's Royal Liver Building would create up to 1,000 software engineering and AI-related jobs over the next three years.
The company which provides services to business across the world said it chose Liverpool for its vibrant and innovative culture.
"It's a place that's got a buzz to it, the skills here and there is energy and that's why we are here," chief technology officer for the UK and Ireland Nick Drouet said.

"Liverpool is really pushing for technology and AI as we saw last year with the AI Summit in Liverpool.
"It aligns with our mission as we expand out of our London base into the north, what a wonderful place to come."
Antoine Shagoury, Kyndryl's chief technology officer said the company's location at the Royal Liver Building was a "phenomenal opportunity".
"It's really about bringing the right talent, the right energy and Liverpool has been central to that," he said.
As part of the new hub opening, Kyndryl is expanding its partnership with The Very Group, the Liverpool-based operator of digital retailers Very and Littlewoods.
The hub also offers an early careers program with 25 digital technology degree apprenticeships due to start next week.
John Chambers, Kyndryl United Kingdom and Ireland president, said the city's growing reputation "as a hub for digital excellence" underscored the decision "to invest in the region's exceptional talent".
