Driver dies in overturned car crash

A driver died when his car crashed and overturned on a country road.

The victim, a man in his 40s, died at the scene on the B6320 Ward Lane in Wark, near Hexham, in Northumberland.

A female passenger, also in her 40s, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Northumbria Police appealed for witnesses and said: "For reasons yet to be established, the car has come off the road and overturned."

The grey BMW X5 M Competition crashed between Nunwick and Ladyhill at about 18:40 BST on Sunday.
