A teenager has been charged with murder and attempted murder after three people were attacked at an address in Brighton, police have said.

Officers were called to reports of a man attacking multiple people inside a house in Hartfield Avenue shortly before 07:30 BST on Tuesday.

Emad Samir Botros, 57, was found with a significant head injuries and died at the scene, while a woman and a boy were found injured outside the house.

Fabio Botros, 19, was arrested and has since been charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder.

The woman and a boy have since been discharged from hospital.

Det Ch Insp Mark Cullimore said it was a "shocking and tragic incident" involving two knives and a hammer.

"Through our initial enquiries, it has been established that the victims and defendant are known to one another," he said.

"We recognise the impact this incident has also had on the local community and we want to reassure members of the public that charges have now been secured and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation.

"Our officers remain in the area conducting enquiries, and we are grateful for the support and patience of the public."

Mr Botros, of Hartfield Avenue, has been remanded in custody and will appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court later this week.
