A 49-year-old woman had to be rescued from Bodmin moor after taking a "awkward stumble".

East Cornwall Search and Rescue Team said it was called to assist a woman with a suspected fractured ankle at Gold Diggings Quarry in Minions on Saturday afternoon.

The team said the woman was with her family and had made it as far as the main quarry track but was unable to continue.

A rescue party supported by team medics splinted her injuries and took her over the moor.

The team said on social media: "Following assessment at the local Minor Injury Unit she was transferred to Derriford Hospital for treatment."

The woman had broken two bones in her foot, the charity said on Monday.
