A hospice service in Surrey is using Volunteers Week to thank people who have donated their time, some for more than two decades.

Phyllis Tuckwell has sites in Guildford, Farnham and Camberley.

It has 653 volunteers, who fill 91 different roles across the organisation.

Volunteers Week runs from the 2 to 8 June, with the aim of encouraging more people to offer their services to their communities.

Roles range from working in the hospice's shop to providing physiotherapy and complementary therapy, or simply sitting with patients and talking with them.

Every year, Phyllis Tuckwell organises long service awards.

Julia Morpeth, voluntary services manager, said: "This year, we will be celebrating the fantastic contribution of 50 of our volunteers, who have supported us for the milestones of 5, 10 and 20 years.

"We'd like to say a huge thank you to all of our amazing volunteers, whose support is so very much appreciated.

"Without you, we simply wouldn't be able to provide our vital care - so thank you."
