Police sealed off Hullard Park in Trafford and a blue forensics tent was set up

Police cordoned off a city park only to find it strewn with rotten chicken wings.

Emergency vehicles and crime scene investigators turned up at Hullard Park in Trafford, Greater Manchester, and put up a blue forensics tent at about 16:00 GMT.

People who had seen the activity at the scene described on social media a terrible stench coming from the scene, with one post warning "Avoid Hullard Park – body found".

But their fears turned out to be unfounded, with a police spokesman confirming what had been discovered was "a bag of chicken wings".
