Man arrested on suspicion of woman's stab murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman who was reportedly stabbed in east London.

At about 23:00 BST on Thursday, police were called to an address in Monier Road, Tower Hamlets.

A woman in her 40s was treated for wounds by paramedics but pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been told and are being supported by officers.

The suspect, in his 20s, is in custody. Police believe he was known to the victim.

Det Supt Mike Cagney said: "Our investigation does not stop here. Specialist officers are working at pace to make inquiries and understand exactly what took place."
