BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend is expected to attract 100,000 music fans over three days

BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend is set to kick off the UK's major festival season by bringing some of the biggest local and international artists to Liverpool.

This year's edition of the annual festival will see Sefton Park welcome the likes of Tom Grennan, Mumford & Sons and Lola Young.

In total, about 100 acts will be appearing on four stages across the three-day festival, which begins on Friday.

More than 100,000 music fans are expected to attend.

Opening times and timetable

Gates will open at 14:00 BST on Friday.

The opening day will feature huge names like Biffy Clyro, Tom Grennan, Natasha Bedingfield and The Wombats.

Gates will open at 11:00 on Saturday, with the line-up including Sam Fender, Sugababes, Tom Odell and Blossoms.

Gates will also open at 11:00 on Sunday. JADE, Mumford & Sons, HAIM, Wet Leg and Tate McRae are on the bill.

Each day is due to end at 22:00.
