Changes to bin collections set to start

Changes to bin collections are set to start which will see new collection frequencies and charges for multiple garden bins.
Cumberland Council said anyone needing extra garden waste containers would have to pay an annual charge of £40 for each.
The new rules, which begin on Monday, follow plans to halve frequency of general waste collections in the former Allerdale area, despite residents' opposition.
The council claimed the changes, which include an opportunity for householders to request a free larger bin, would "provide a fairer and more efficient service".
Garden waste collections will take place fortnightly between 31 March and November.
Cumberland Council was created in 2023 following the merger of Allerdale, Copeland and Carlisle councils, each of which operated separate waste collections.
Carlisle and Copeland residents already have their black bins collected on a fortnightly basis, with Allerdale moving to the same frequency.
Cardboard and paper collections will increase in all areas from monthly to fortnightly from September.
