Women injured by intruder in 'targeted attack'

Two women have been injured by an intruder after shots were fired at a property in Doncaster.
South Yorkshire Police said shots were fired in Almond Avenue, Armthorpe, shortly after 23:30 BST on Sunday before a man climbed through the property's downstairs window and attacked two women with a wooden object.
Officers said the suspect fled the scene and the two women were taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Police are treating the incident as a targeted attack and are urging anyone with information or video footage to come forward.
A scene would remain in place on Monday, a force spokesperson said, with additional patrols and house-to-house visits to be carried out in coming days.
Det Ch Insp Chris Ronayne said: "We will not tolerate gun crime here in South Yorkshire and we are working hard to piece together the circumstances of this incident and bring the person responsible to justice.
"In this instance, a firearm was discharged late at night in a residential area of Doncaster and it is this kind of mindless violence and criminality which puts innocent people in danger."
