A fire near a railway track has caused major disruption to train services.

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said one engine was sent to the scene in Knebworth near Stevenage at 18:56 BST.

National Rail said all lines were blocked and warned of cancellations and delays between Stevenage and London Kings Cross.

In an update on X just after 03:00, train company Thameslink confirmed the fire had been dealt with but said further disruption was possible where trains had been unable to return to base in time to start services on Saturday.
