Guernsey's airline has announced an expanded service in response to a strong demand for travel during Alderney Week.

Aurigny said it would be running 12 additional flights at the start of August "to help more visitors experience the island's most celebrated annual event".

It said there would be eight additional flights between Southampton and Alderney, and a further four between Guernsey and Alderney.

Aurigny's chief executive, Nico Bezuidenhout, said teams had worked hard to make the flights available and "further strengthen Alderney's visitor economy".

'Play our part'

He said: "Alderney Week is an inspiring celebration of island life, and we're proud to play our part in helping it thrive."

The airline said additional flights between Alderney and Southampton would be scheduled for 2,3,10 and 11 August, and on 3 and 10 August for flights between Alderney and Guernsey.

The airline said the new flights would amount to more than "200 additional seats for the period."

Caroline Gauvain, tourism manager at Visit Alderney, said: "We really appreciate Aurigny adding extra flights for Alderney Week.

"This iconic event is a highlight of the island's calendar and a fantastic opportunity to welcome new and returning visitors.

"These extra flights will ensure more people can experience the unique charm, community spirit, and unforgettable celebrations that make Alderney Week so special."
