A 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a 15-year-old near a shopping centre.

Police were called to an underpass between The Mall and The Venue at Cribbs Causeway just before 17:40 BST on Monday. The 15-year-old was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Three 16-year-olds, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged in connection with the incident and appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The first boy is accused of attempted murder and possessing a knife. The second is accused of possessing a knife and the third is accused of assault causing actual bodily harm. All three are charged with affray.

Two of the teenagers have been released on conditional court bail, while the suspect charged with attempted murder has been remanded into police custody.

They are next due to appear at Bristol Crown Court on 25 June.

Avon and Somerset Police said it did not believe there is a wider risk to the public and said uniformed officers would continue to carry out high-visibility patrols in the area.
