A drug dealer who supplied cocaine across a city has been described by a judge as a "naughty schoolboy" and told to "grow up" as he is jailed for eight years.

Kiano Houghton Jones, 29, of Longstone Avenue, Longford, appeared at Gloucester Crown Court on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to supplying Class A drugs between June and November last year

Houghton Jones, who already has 23 previous convictions, was arrested after officers found him with two mobile phones, which was breaking his serious crimes prevention order.

His Honour Judge Rupert Lowe said: "You were not interested in leading an honest life. You have demonstrated the attitude of a naughty schoolboy, and you need to grow up."

After the arrest, Houghton Jones refused to provide PINs to access the phones, which were then cracked by police.

Although no drugs were found at the property, drug experts analysing the messages estimate that a total of 8kg (2.20 lbs) of cocaine for supply was being discussed on messages sent by Houghton Jones.

Numerous photographs showing large quantities of cocaine on scales, as well as images of cash, were also found.

And about £9,000 and high-value clothing was also found in Houghton Jones' bedroom.

In mitigation, the court heard that Houghton Jones had learned "his lesson following his arrest, and wanted to turn over a new leaf".

But, Judge Lowe told him that he should have woken up and changed his ways when he was convicted of dealing Class A drugs in 2017.

Speaking after the sentencing, Det Sgt Samantha Martin, from the Serious Organised Crime Unit, said: "Haughton Jones clearly could not resist the lifestyle and profit that drug dealing could provide and he will now be receiving another lengthy custodial sentence."
