Plans have been submitted for a two-storey building in Bawburgh

Plans have been submitted to turn a site currently used as a pig farm into a school.

The new facility would be two storeys high, and built in Long Lane, Bawburgh, near Norwich.

The plans include a multi-use games area, play areas, a pupil drop-off and collection point and a car park.

The proposed development site, which will be considered by South Norfolk Council, spans nearly eight acres (3.25 hectares).

The earmarked area is located on the eastern side of Long Lane, close to the A47, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The application follows significant housing development in surrounding villages, such as Easton.

The application has been lodged with the authority for an environmental impact assessment, to help determine whether the proposals are likely to have a significant impact on the environment.

The current Bawburgh School in Hockering Lane teaches primary-age children and has about 100 pupils.
