Man stabbed and racially abused by suspects on mopeds

A man has been stabbed and racially abused after being chased by three attackers on mopeds.

Wiltshire Police said the victim, a man in his 40s, was asked for his belongings at about 23:00 BST before trying to escape.

He was then racially abused by the attackers who chased after him and assaulted him with a knife outside his home in May Close, Swindon.

Det Sgt Craig Rathbone of Swindon CID said: "We appreciate the community concern this incident will cause and we are treating it incredibly seriously."

"There can be no place for this kind of violence in Swindon and our enquiries are ongoing to find those responsible," he added.

The victim received treatment in hospital and has since been discharged. The suspects are described as white. They wore black clothes and balaclavas.

A police cordon was put in place to allow for enquires to be carried out. There will also be an increased patrols in the area, a police spokesperson said.
