A beer festival is to return to a city church for a fifth year.

The event, which will feature 11 independent breweries, will take place at Hull Minister from 8 to 10 May.

Steve Aitcheson, who runs a brewery in Wawne, East Yorkshire, will be attending for the fourth time with his wife Avril.

He said the atmosphere was "brilliant" and the festival helped to "create a community" by bringing brewers and customers together.

"We're looking forward to being in a iconic building," she added. "The staff are brilliant."

Lucy Meer, from Hull Minster, said staging the event – which is part of the church's 600th anniversary celebrations – was a "community effort" involving staff and volunteers.

The festival will also showcase local music and food.

"This is our way of supporting local businesses and also bringing people in to the minster," she added.

The event was first staged in 2021 following the cancellation of a previous festival due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Tickets can be purchased on the minster's website.
