A man has been charged after allegedly making threats with an axe and a knife outside the main gates of a Royal Air Force station.

North Wales Police said the incident happened shortly after 12:30 GMT on Tuesday at RAF Valley on Anglesey in north Wales.

The man appeared at Llandudno Magistrates Court, Conwy, on Wednesday charged with sending communication threatening death or serious harm.

He is also charged with two counts of being in possession of a knife blade or sharp pointed article in a public place.

He was remanded into custody and will next appear at Caernarfon Crown Court in Gwynedd on 28 April.
