Two people arrested as part of an investigation into home-made pyrotechnics have been released on bail, police say.

A 15-year-old boy and a woman, 38, both from Corby in Northamptonshire, were arrested on Thursday.

Northamptonshire Police said the incident was not currently being treated as terror-related.

Searches were carried out at Whitworth Avenue in Corby as part of the investigation.

The police said arrests were made by detectives investigating a report of a social media account being used to advertise and sell suspected home-made pyrotechnics.

The boy and woman were arrested on suspicion of possession of an explosive substance for an unlawful purpose and selling reportable explosive precursors.

The boy was released on conditional bail and the woman on unconditional bail while inquiries continued.
