A man was taken to hospital after being knocked unconscious outside a fast food shop in Devon.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to KFC on Imperial Road, Exmouth on Saturday at about 20:15 BST to reports a man had been punched and knocked to the ground.

The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, the force added.

A 31-year-old man from Exmouth has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody.

Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
