A national group representing agricultural shows has appointed a new chief executive from Cornwall.

The Association of Show and Agricultural Organisations (ASAO) said Jenna Payne would take up the position from the end of the year.

She served as secretary of Stithians Show from 2016 to 2021 and has continued to work in the agricultural show industry since then.

The appointment comes after Paul Hooper announced his retirement having led the ASAO for more than 30 years.

Denis Dooley, chair of the ASAO which is a registered charity, said of the new appointment: "Her enthusiasm, knowledge and determination will lead the association in an exciting new direction.

"Thanks must go to Paul Hooper for his expert guidance and professional approach over the past 30 years.

"He has led the association exceptionally, transforming it into the successful association it is."
