Six men arrested in gangland probe appear in court

Six men have appeared in court following their arrest during a gangland probe.

Andrew Quinn, 31, and James Quinn, 26, are alleged to have conspired to allow other "unknown" suspects to carry out fire attacks and "acts of serious violence and endangerment of life" between 10 April and 5 May this year.

Also linked to the probe were Andrew Robertson, 52; William Quinn, 57; Craig Swankie, 36; and Regan McKay, 26, who faced a number of other charges.

All six men made no plea and were committed for further examination.

Andrew Quinn, of Glasgow, is accused of working with Mr Robertson to "further the commission of serious organised crime".

Mr Robertson is also alleged to have created and supplied false registration plates.

Andrew Quinn faces a further charge of attempting to conspire with other unknown suspects to plot a serious act of violence and endangerment to life to an unknown target in return for money.

James Quinn is alleged to have conspired with Mr Swankie to commit acts of serious violence and endangerment to life against unknown people in return for money.

William Quinn, of Glasgow, is accused of acquiring criminal property and possession of criminal property, as well as possession of drugs.

Mr McKay, also of Glasgow, faces a charge of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug.

Andrew Quinn, James Quinn and Mr Swankie were remanded in custody.

They will appear in court again within the next eight days.

Mr Robertson, William Quinn and Mr McKay were granted bail with their next court appearances yet to be determined.
