Man jailed over drug debt killing dies in prison

A man convicted of killing a father-of-one in a hit-and-run following a row over a longstanding drugs debt has died in prison.

Samuel Henneberry, 64, was one of four men jailed for killing Andrew Flamson, who was struck by a car on Grosvenor Road, Coventry, in July 2022.

The Prisons & Probations Ombudsman said that Henneberry died on 10 May while in HMP Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire, with an investigation in progress.

Henneberry, who was a passenger in the car, was jailed for 15 years for manslaughter.

The driver of the car, Ashley Donald, 26, from Birmingham, was jailed for life for murder, with a minimum term of 23 years.

The other two passengers in the car, Carl Tomlinson and Callum Ayre, both from Coventry, were jailed for manslaughter for 13 years and 12 years respectively.

Police said the car had been used as a weapon of revenge.

Tension had existed for months between Mr Flamson, a cannabis dealer, and one of the men over a debt of up to £400, a court heard following the killing.

Prosecutors said the men went out in the car on the day in question, taking weapons including a baseball bat and wooden pole.

Targeting Mr Flamson, the vehicle was driven the wrong way on the road, with a no-entry sign, cones and bollards all ignored.
