The incident happened on the A1(M) southbound near Catterick, the fire service said

The driver of a car which was dragged 100 metres along the central barrier of the A1(M) by a lorry "amazingly" escaped with only minor injuries, firefighters have said.

The car ended up wedged in mid-air between the HGV and the barrier following the crash, which happened on the southbound carriageway of the motorway near Catterick, North Yorkshire, at about 09:15 BST on Monday.

In a Facebook post, Richmond Fire Station, which sent a crew to the scene, said: "Amazingly minor injuries but could have been so much worse."

The post said the car had been dragged 100m (328ft) along the barrier after the collision.
