Two Channel Islands airlines are advising passengers to allow more time for their journeys after their departure systems were affected by a global technical outage.

Aurigny and Blue Islands said their teams were having to check passengers in manually in Guernsey and Jersey on Tuesday morning.

Both airlines asked passengers to bring booking references and IDs to the airport "in good time" and said those who had already checked-in at home would need to do so again at the airport.

They said the outage had affected its departure control systems and that of several other airlines worldwide.

Websites affected

An Aurigny spokesperson said: "The check-in process is taking a little longer than usual and we thank everyone for their patience, understanding and kindness shown to our ground teams who are working really hard to get every one where they need to be."

Both airlines confirmed the issue had also affected customers' ability to book, make changes and check in via their websites and call centres.

They advised customers who wanted to book to check the companies' websites later in the day.

Teams were also having to check passengers in manually in Southampton and London Gatwick, Aurigny added.
