An 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy were arrested after a house fire in Chertsey on Monday

Two people have been arrested following a house fire in Surrey, police said.

Surrey Police said that the force, and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, attended a fire on Laburnum Road, Chertsey, at 18:10 GMT on 17 March.

The fire was put out and nobody was injured, although some residents were taken to hospital as a precaution, police said.

An 18-year-old woman from Hounslow and a 17-year-old boy from Epsom were arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and remain in police custody.

Runnymede Borough Commander Ian Nash said: "We appreciate that this will have caused concern to the local community, however a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing."
