Emergency services were called to the scene on Friday morning

All lanes of the northbound M1 in Hertfordshire have reopened following an earlier crash.

National Highways said two lanes out of four were closed on the motorway between junction eight for Hemel Hempstead and junction nine for Redbourn.

Police, the fire service and paramedics were called the scene at about 11:00 BST.

There are currently delays of about 45 minutes and about five miles (8km) of congestion, it added.
