Roadworks at congested roundabout to start

Improvement work at an often-congested roundabout is set to start later in May for more than three months.
Bolton Council have revealed plans for the work at the Beehive roundabout and the southbound side of De Havilland Way in the town, which will involve some overnight road closures.
The work will take place from the roundabout at the Beehive pub to the slip road to the Middlebrook retail park, close to Bolton Wanderers' Toughsheet stadium.
The work includes widening the carriageway to both the centre island of the roundabout and the southbound De Havilland Way.
Contractors will be resurfacing sections of the road and working on drainage, street lighting, road markings and traffic signal loop re-cutting, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
The Beehive roundabout is known for traffic delays at peak times, with cars often backed up on the Chorley New Road approach towards Horwich town centre.
