A former Labour MP will stand trial charged with sexual assault.

Gwynoro Jones, 82, of West Street in Gorseinon, Swansea, was elected to represent Carmarthen in the House of Commons between 1970 and 1974.

Swansea Crown Court heard on Friday that the ex-politician and broadcaster allegedly touched a woman without consent on a train on 11 June 2024 and the incident was recorded on CCTV.

Mr Jones pleaded not guilty, speaking in the dock only to confirm his name, and is expected to stand the two-day trial on 10 November. He was released on unconditional bail.
