Arrest after fatal crash on dual carriageway

A lorry driver has been arrested after a fatal crash on the A14 in Cambridgeshire.

Emergency services were called to a collision in Horningsea involving multiple vehicles on the eastbound carriageway at about 21:25 BST on Tuesday.

"One person in a car has sustained fatal injuries. Three other people in the same car suffered serious injuries," a police spokesperson said.

A 38-year-old lorry driver from Cambridge was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The road was closed eastbound between junctions 34 and 35 at about 22:00 BST, and did not reopen until about 20:00 on Wednesday.

Police appealed for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw the vehicles in the moments leading up to the incident.
